What People Say
This Is LMSUK
The clue is in the name Local Music Scene. From the beginning, our purpose has been rooted in one thing: helping local artists get seen, supported, and celebrated.
Where It Started
In 2016, Josh Robinson was watching something that frustrated him. Talented musicians genuinely brilliant artists were being ignored, exploited, or told to wait. Wait for a label. Wait to be discovered. Wait for someone else to decide their career was worth investing in.
He didn't buy it.
So he started LMSUK as a passion project, writing music blogs, putting on grassroots shows, and working directly with emerging talent across the UK. As the network grew, so did the ambition. Hundreds of live events. Venues across the country. Local artists finally getting the spotlight they deserved.
It wasn't a business plan. It was a belief.
When Everything Changed
When COVID hit, the live music world stopped overnight.
Rather than wait for it to come back, LMSUK pivoted. The focus moved online, building digital brands for artists that unlocked real opportunities in the modern music industry. The mission didn't change. The method evolved.
Building a Name in the Industry
As LMSUK grew, so did Josh's profile. Content created for BBC Introducing. Presenting on the MOBOs red carpet. Speaking at the O2 Indigo alongside panellists from BBC Radio 1, VEVO, and TikTok. Hosting live sessions for Virgin Radio that hit 41,000 views in 24 hours. Radio presenting to 50,000 listeners on Express FM.
Working on live events with George Ezra, Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, The Hives, Jamie T, and more. Supporting campaigns for Arctic Monkeys, Sam Fender, Noel Gallagher, Kasabian, Craig David, and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
In 2026, the University of Portsmouth awarded Josh an Honorary Fellowship, the highest accolade the University can give in recognition of over a decade of contributions to the music industry.
Through all of it, the focus never shifted. Independent artists deserve better. LMSUK exists to prove it.
RecFest
We wanted to give even more back to the scene that built us.
So we launched RecFest a family-friendly new music and sports festival hosted every May in collaboration with SuperStar Sports. Music, sport, food, and family fun in one action-packed day. At its heart: showcasing the very best up-and-coming local talent.
The artists filling the big stages tomorrow are playing the small ones today. We want to be the ones who gave them their first real moment.
Our Team
LMSUK is powered by a team of over 30 directors, social media managers, A&R specialists, graphic designers, and HR professionals. Every one of them chosen because they genuinely love music and are confident they can deliver results.
We don't overcommit. Our services are intentionally exclusive. We operate a waitlist to make sure every artist is matched with the right people, people who understand their sound, believe in their vision, and know how to build something real around it.
The BackStagePass
As demand for LMSUK grew, so did the waitlist.
In 2024 we launched the BackStagePass a DIY music manager in your pocket. Resources, applications, submissions, industry tips, discounts, and new tools added daily. For artists who want to take their first step into LMSUK, or who prefer a self-managed approach to growth.
Whether you want a hands-on team or the freedom to do it yourself, we have something built for where you are right now.
What We Are Today
LMSUK has grown into something much bigger than a music agency.
It's a movement.
We help artists get seen through tailored social media strategies. We run RecFest and support events across the UK. We host networking nights, spotlight rising talent, and collaborate with major press and radio. We keep building an ecosystem that gives independent artists the tools, team, and opportunities they need to build real, sustainable careers.
This is what we do. This is who we are.
We help artists get heard, and we're proud to do it with passion, purpose, and community at the core.
Because music matters. And it deserves to be heard.
